Employment Opportunity: Administrative/Clerical

Title: Election Division Manager

Closing Date: Until Filled

Department: Election Commission

Hours: Full-Time: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., including evenings, weekends and holidays as required

Salary: $53,684-$89,471 annually

Responsibilities include:
• Supervises, plans and organizes the work of division staff
• Hires, directs, evaluates, disciplines and adjusts grievances, or effectively recommends such actions for assigned personnel
• Plans, directs and supervises daily activities of division staff
• Develops long and short range plans and monitors programs, projects and procedures ensuring deadlines are met
• Remain current on all local, state and federal legislation as it pertains to elections
• Develops procedures and standards to ensure compliance with election law
• Provides and answers inquiries and resolves complaints regarding election operations and logistics that  require the use of judgement, and the explanation of laws, policies, rules and procedures
• Develop working relationship and communicate with state and local officials, organizations and departments while participating in election related functions and activities
• Coordinates multiple election database(s) coding, setup and testing
• Oversees the development of the ballot in multiple formats
• Ensures the accuracy of ballots, election notice and publications
• Assists in development of election calendars
• Provides or coordinates staff training and cross-training in work procedures
• Identifies process improvement opportunities and required resources

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or other closely related field and at least three (3) years of technical or specialized election operations experience with one (1) of those years in a supervisory capacity

The preferred candidate will have:
• Experience in administering elections
• Knowledge of Illinois Election Law
• Knowledge of management and leadership principles
• Administrative research and methodologies and techniques
• Interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines
• Ability to prioritize and assign work
• Knowledge of Business English, spelling, grammar and punctuation
• Skill in Microsoft Office software and various databases
