County Recorder - Fred Bucholz
"The Recorder's Office is
Dedicated to Customer Service through Communication, Attention to Detail and a
Commitment to Excellence."
As the DuPage County Recorder, I believe first
and foremost that service is the main objective of the office. My staff is
willing to assist you in any manner possible. Please keep in mind that we are
not attorneys and cannot dispense legal advice. If you have questions about the
preparation or legality of a document, you should consult with an attorney. When
you are ready to record your documents, you may either mail them or present them
for processing to my staff.
The Recorder's Office has a number of
forms for your convenience available by selecting the Online Forms link. Your
attorney or a local office supply store provides most of the other forms
necessary for you to achieve the recording result you require.
Recording fees are established by the Illinois State legislature and the
DuPage County Board and are mandatory upon the Recorder. Fees are payable in
advance, and instruments are recorded only upon the receipt of the proper fee,
which may be in the form of cash, check, Visa or Mastercard.
Your document will be retained so that it may
be entered into the computer and subsequently filmed and imaged for permanent
archival purposes. Your document will then be returned to you by mail.
If in the future you would have need of a copy of a document that has been
recorded, you may either come in during office hours and search for the document
or retrieve a copy from the web site. Extensive information may be obtained by
personal search either in the office, on the Internet or by employing one of the
title companies serving DuPage County. I would be happy to assist you in
locating a title company.
We offer a guide to permit you to carry out
your business with the Recorder's Office in the most efficient manner possible.
Due to the technical and legal nature of documents, the information provided,
though comprehensive, is by no means complete. You may require the services of
an attorney if your own research proves difficult. If any discrepancy arises
between this guide and the Illinois Compiled Statutes, the latter will
prevail.
Serving you remains my primary mission. I remain
committed to the citizens of DuPage County and continually strive to enhance and
improve the services of the Recorder's Office. If I or any of my staff may be of
assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call or visit.
