Legislative Accomplishments/Awards

  • Author of Brianna's Law, 2008, allowing Autism-related services to be covered by insurance. Legislation has been enacted in more than 45 States.
  • Author of James' Law Public Safety Legislation 2011 Enabling GPS locators to work with 911 system to find children and seniors who suffer from Autism, Alzheimer's and other cognitive impairments.
  • Co-author of Autism Protection Act of 2012 protects those with autism diagnosis from potentially losing insurance coverage with DSM5 change in diagnosis.
  • Co-author of ABLE ACT, a 529 Tax Advantaged Savings Account for people with disabilities
  • Co-author and lead advocate of the Annie LeGere Law, allowing police officers to carry Epi Auto Injectors
  • Led effort to equip DuPage County Sheriff's Deputies with Epi Auto Injectors (first County in Illinois to do so)
