West Chicago Man Found Guilty of Sexual Abuse of Minor
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced today that a West Chicago man has been found guilty of sexually abusing a seventeen-year-old girl whom he coached in a private athletic club. Jon Miki, 51 (d.o.b. 4/21/1968) of 2551 Havens Drive, appeared in court today where, following a bench trial, Judge Jeffrey MacKay found him guilty of two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony.
Today’s verdict stems from allegations that from March 24, 2018 through March 31, 2018, Miki sexually abused his victim on two occasions at his home in West Chicago. The girl’s parents grew suspicious of her relationship with Miki and contacted authorities. On December 12, 2018, Miki appeared in Bond Court where bond was set at $75,000 with 10% to apply. On December 14, 2018, Miki posted the necessary 10%, or $7,500, and was released from custody.
“This afternoon, Judge MacKay found Jon Miki guilty of using his position of trust and authority over a seventeen-year-old girl to satisfy his sexual desires,” Berlin said. “Not only did Mr. Miki abuse his victim, he also abused the trust placed in him by the victim’s parents as well as the athletic community in which he was involved. I would like to thank the Kane County and DuPage County Children’s Centers for their work on the case. I would also like to thank Assistant State’s Attorneys Alexandria Levan and Bridget Carlson for their efforts that led to today’s guilty verdict.”
Miki’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 1, 2019 for sentencing.
