Date Payments Deemed Accepted

your Online Payment request, provided that funds have been successfully
transferred from your bank account to the Treasurer's bank account.
The date the funds are transferred will be recorded as the payment date.
ENTERING Incorrect Bank Account and/or Bank Routing Information
The
taxpayer is solely responsible for ensuring that they have entered the correct
bank account and ABA routing numbers before submitting an Online Payment
request. Improperly entering your bank account number or your financial
institution's 9-digit ABA routing number can result in your Online Payment
request being rejected.
ENTERING Incorrect Visa, Master Card or
Discover Card Account Information
The taxpayer is solely responsible
for ensuring that they have entered the correct account information before
submitting an Online Payment Request. Improperly entering your card number can
result in your Online Payment request being rejected.
Notice of Denied
Payment Requests
If you provide an incorrect bank account number,
incorrect 9-digit ABA bank routing number and/or an incorrect credit card
number and your payment is denied by your bank, you will be notified by U.S.
mail that your Online Payment request was rejected. This notice will be
mailed to the taxpayer who made the Online Payment request. Letters notifying
taxpayers that their payment attempt was rejected may take 7-10 business days to
generate once the Treasurer's Office learns that an Online Payment request was
unsuccessful or the payment was denied by the taxpayer's bank. If your Online
Payment request is denied and you do not re-submit corrected information
on or before the due date, you will be liable for late payment penalty.
Returned Transaction
If your Online Payment is
returned to us unpaid, your payment will be cancelled. Payment of your taxes
must then be made by cashier's check, cash or money order including any late penalties.
Open to All
Taxpayers, Regardless of Financial Institution Used to Pay
You do not
need to be a customer of Chase Bank to use this service. It is open to all
taxpayers with financial institution accounts in the United States.
Reference/Confirmation Number
The "Reference/Confirmation Number"
that you receive DOES NOT confirm a successful transaction.
This number means that your Online Payment request has been successfully
received. Receiving a "Reference/Confirmation Number" DOES NOT
mean that your bank account number or your bank ABA routing number were
entered correctly, and DOES NOT mean that funds are available
at your bank. This number is merely your proof that you submitted a request to
make an Online Payment.
YOUR Duty to Confirm Successful Transfer of
Funds
To avoid late payment penalty, it is the duty and responsibility
of the taxpayer to confirm with their own financial institution that the
transfer of funds was successful.
Verification of Payment
You
may wish to confirm with your bank within 2 business days of submitting your
Online Payment request that your payment was successful; as it may take up to 5
business days to reflect the payment paid on the Treasurer's website. You
can also call our office 630-407-5900 Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm for
verification.
Transfer of Funds Date
Funds are transferred
from your account by the end of the next business day following your Online
Payment request. A successful transaction is defined as a timely Online Payment
request on the correct parcel number, resulting in a successful transfer of
funds from the user's bank account to the DuPage County Treasurer's
account.
Transfer of Funds Requests are Only Submitted Once
If a
request to transfer funds is returned by your financial institution for any
reason (i.e., insufficient funds, closed account, stopped payment, etc.), the
request to transfer funds will not be resubmitted. Payment requests are only
submitted one time.
proof of payment
If the Treasurer's
payment records differ from the taxpayers' records, final decisions will be
based on the Treasurer's written, computerized and mechanized records regarding
the transaction.
